She is best known for playing Alex Russo on Wizards of Waverly Place. even Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez were both on the show Barney & Friends. In 2008 she signed with Hollywood Records, and is currently working on her debut album, which will be launched in the summer of 2009. Acting Career: Selena Gomez grew up in Grand Prairie, Texas. Her first role was in the series Barney & Friends as Gianna character. She was discovered by Disney talent searches when she was 12. In 2006 she was a guest star in season 2 of The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, as the girl Gwen in the episode A Midsummer's Nightmare. In 2007, she appeared in two episodes of Hannah Montana season 2 as Mikayla, and Hannah's pop star competitor.
