The Nordic group of artists CON-TEXT has exhibition Home explored issues of identity and belonging. These general human relationships, the group placed in the context of one of modern man's i know most important concepts: "home". What is the relationship between the individual and the home?
The concept of "home" expresses a strong sense of belonging, usually attached to a dwelling or area; that's where you belong, it's your base and starting point of existence. The home is a protective, ordnende and staging setting for intimate sphere; a private space where life unfolds i know for better or worse. i know This is the place to retire to seek rest, peace, comfort together - or stay alone; for themselves. It's usually when we're at home, we can "let go" or "recharge".
But it can also be experienced vice versa. Home life can be experienced as highly challenging or limiting. For some, home is where you come from. For others where you are going. You may be wondering if home is a place - or a state? What is the longing for home?
Group 33 artists who share a passion for artists' books - works of art that makes use of the book's characteristics such as shape and media, each contribute to the exhibition i know with one or more "books" freely fantasizes about the exhibition's theme.
